presentación de logros en Proyectos de lucha contra el sida, malaria y tuberculosis

Visión Mundial realizó la presentación de resultados de Línea Final de los Proyectos GUA-304-G01-H "Prevención y atención integral de VIH/sida en grupos vulnerables" Fase II y GUA-405-G02-M "Iniciativa Multisectorial para reducir la malaria en cinco áreas de Guatemala" Fase II e informó sobre el cierre de actividades en su rol como Receptor Principal de los Proyectos Tuberculosis, VIH/sida y Malaria financiados por el Fondo Mundial, durante los años 2004-2010.

En el acto oficial el Dr. Ludwing Ovalle, Ministro de Salud Pública y Asistencia Social, dijo que “vamos a trabajar con humildad, vamos a pedir consejos a Visión Mundial, al Mecanismo Coordinador de País, para que trabajemos juntos y nos sentemos juntos a trabajar; tenemos mucho que agradecerles a Visión Mundial porque abrieron las puertas de la cooperación”.

En representación del Mecanismo Coordinador de País, el Lic. Jorge Arriola, expresó que “para todos y todas han sido un verdadero reto desde que se iniciaron los proyectos, hasta el día de hoy que se cierra un primer capítulo de los recursos financiados por el Fondo Mundial en el país, que han venido a ser un valuarte de las tres enfermedades”.

La Licda. Reyna De León de Contreras, Directora Nacional de Visión Mundial al entregar oficialmente los resultados de la línea final de los proyectos, indicó que “estos esfuerzos han permitido que más 6,000 personas que viven con VIH/sida en el país, hayan tenido acceso a tratamientos antirretrovirales, que más de 263,000 mujeres embarazadas pudieran recibir el tamizaje voluntario, ha permitido que más de 5,500 personas hayan tenido a tratamientos de tuberculosis y que más de 130,000 familias fueran protegidas con pabellones impregnados con Deltametrina, sin olvidar la cantidad de niños y niñas que en las escuelas cubiertas por el proyecto de malaria, pudieron aprender de cómo prevenir la malaria.

Nosotros al terminar esta experiencia como Receptores Principales hemos completado ya cuatro talleres en cada proyecto para la preparar la transición a los nuevos Receptores Principales de los nuevos financiamientos del Fondo Mundial de lucha contra el sida, la malaria y la tuberculosis en Guatemala”, concluyó la licenciada De León, haciendo la entrega oficial de los documentos de Línea Final de los proyectos de sida y malaria para los años 2004-2010, al Ministerio de Salud y al Mecanismo Coordinador de País.

La Dra. Amelia Flores, Directora de los Proyectos del Fondo Mundial de Visión Mundial, realizó la presentación de la Línea Final de los Proyectos, indicando que el Fondo Mundial es el principal organismo internacional para financiar programas de lucha contra el VIH/sida, la tuberculosis y la malaria, que para Guatemala aprobó 60 millones de dólares, que se ejecutaron en cinco años y diez meses.

Visión Mundial es una organización cristiana humanitaria, que trabaja a favor de la niñez, sus familias y comunidades pobres sin distinción de raza, género, etnia o creencia religiosa, propiciando oportunidades de desarrollo transformador, promoción de la justicia y apoyo en emergencias.

World Vision Guatemala presents the achievements for the projects to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria

World Vision Guatemala presented the achievements for the Final Line of the Projects GUA-304-G01-H "Prevention and comprehensive attention for HIV/aids with vulnerable groups”, Phase II, and GUA-405-G02-M "Multisector initiative to reduce malaria in five areas of Guatemala”, Phase II. It also informed about the closure activities as its role as Main Recipient for the Malaria, Tuberculosis and HIV/aids projects funded by The Global Fund, from 2004 to 2010.

During the event, Dr. Ludwing Ovalle, Public Health and Social Assistance Ministry, expressed “we are going to be humble to work, we are going to ask advice to World Vision, to the Country Coordinator Mechanism, to work together. We have a lot to be thankful to World Vision, because they opened the doors of the international cooperation”.

In representation of the Country Coordinator Mechanism, Jorge Arriola said “for everyone, this has been a big challenge since the projects started until today when a first chapter funded y The Global Fund, is done. This has been a terrific support to fight these diseases.”

Reyna De León de Contreras, World Vision Guatemala National Director, when she officially handed in the inform about the achievements of the final line of the projects pointed out “these efforts let more than 6000 people living with HIV received ARV treatments. More than 263,000 pregnant women participated in the voluntarily sifting. More than 5,500 persons received tuberculosis medical treatment and more than 130,000 families have the protection of Deltametrina soaked nets. All these and all the children who learned how to prevent malaria with different activities in the school located where the project was executed.

As we finish with these experience of being the Main Recipients, we have completed four workshops to prepare the transition to the new Main Recipients of the new funds from The Global Fund to fight AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis in Guatemala”, concluded Ms. De Le{on, and then she officially handed in the documents of the Final Line of the AIDS and malaria projects, 2004 – 2010, to the Health Ministry and the Country Coordinator Mechanism representative.

Dr. Amelia Flores, World Vision Guatemala-The Global Fund Projects Director, presented the Final Line of the Projects, pointing out The Global Fund is the main international institution to fund programs to fight HIV/aids, tuberculosis and malaria. For Guatemala, The Global Fund approved US$60 millions and they were executed in five years and ten months.
